Kindness feels good, doesn't it? Like slipping into a warm bath.
I will visit you soon in that case. Wait for me, Zewu-Jun.
{True to his word, Prince Xie arrives at Gusu Lan's Cloud Recesses a week or so later and waits to be allowed entrance. He is vibrant in silver and purple, a box held carefully in his hands.}
Naturally, Prince Xie was expected and so he was escorted by no less than two of the Lan guardians to the upper reaches of the mountain. However, instead of being brought to the centralized building that was typical of receiving guests, he was taken to what was likely someone's home. It, in fact, was Lan Xichen's residence.
Inside was the clan leader himself, who bowed respectfully at his guest and motioned for the guards to leave them alone before offering Xie a seat at his table, where tea had been prepared.
"Welcome to my home. Please." And if Xie sat, so did Xichen across from him with a pleased and gentle smile on his lips.
Lan Xichen knew how to welcome a visitor! Xie followed his escorts without complaint, smiling the moment he laid eyes on his host. Keeping the box safe against his chest, he bowed to Xichen, some of his braids falling over his shoulder.
"I feel welcomed." he took the seat offered and set the box on the table between them, "A small token for your hospitality. Forgive me for taking some liberties."
Inside of the wooden box, carefully nestled in silk, was a medium-sized dragon (with magnificent horns) carved out of jade.
"Oh," Xichen sounded extremely touched by such a courtesy, and he truly was. Without a deceptive bone in his body, his reaction was genuine as he took the time to open the box and to admire the gift that had been presented to him. He withdrew the token to examine the craftsmanship with an eye that was used to viewing such items, and he smiled as he returned it back to its box for now.
"I am grateful for your consideration. This gift suits me very well." In fact, he already knew where in his office he was going to place it. Perhaps he would get an opportunity to show the Prince later. For now, it was time to focus on serving him.
The tea was hot, herbal, close to medicinal but was taken away from that with the addition of sweet honey that was provided for special guests. Healthy, rejuvenating, and yet more indulgent than he would allow himself on a day-to-day.

So you must show me your teas.

It would be my pleasure to do so. Have you ever been to Gusu? The Cloud Recesses?

I have not! Would you invite me?
no subject
Of course. It would only be proper to invite one who I am interested in courting. Please, honor me by accepting my invitation.
